What is the SMaC Card?
The SMaC Card is a card promoted by the Secretariat of State for Finance and Budget of the Republic of San Marino, which offers holders discounts on purchases and concessions in various affiliated establishments in the Republic of San Marino.
Among the main benefits:

- Discount of about €0.15 per liter on fuel purchased at participating gas stations.
- Additional features: reloadable card, use of accumulated credit, access to online services via app and site.
Who can apply for it?
- The card is reserved for individuals (not for purchases for commercial use).
- You must be 16 years of age or older to apply for it.
- Even underage students or individuals with reduced motor/sensory abilities: there are specific provisions with subsidized rates (see regulations).
How to request it step-by-step
Here are the steps to follow to obtain the SMaC Card.
1. Go to the licensed institution
You can apply for the card at a participating bank or a post office in the Republic of San Marino.
2. Fill out the application form
You must fill out and sign the “SMaC Application Form” where you indicate: first name, last name, date of birth, email address, cell phone number.
3. Present a valid identification document
A valid identification document must be presented with the application to attest to one’s identity and residence.
4. Pay the cost of issuing the card
At the time of application, a set amount is paid for issuance:
- The current cost is about €15.00 (including issuance and services).
- There may be reduced rates for minors or students.
5. Receive and activate the card
Once all steps have been completed, the card is given to the applicant and can be immediately activated at all participating establishments.
It is good practice to sign the holder’s name on the back of the card before use.
How to use it
- Present the SMaC Card at the time of payment at the participating merchant for the discount to be recognized.
- The credit recognized by the rebate is immediately loaded onto the card and can be spent in circuit establishments.
- You can check your balance and transactions through the online customer area or through the dedicated app.
- In case of loss or theft, you can block the card via toll-free number or through the app/site.
